Sarah Rafea is a portrait photographer with a background in architecture.
After have completing her BA in Architecture, Sarah moved to the high desert of Santa Fe, New Mexico for three years. There she found a unique art haven. She studied under distinguished photographers, and participated in a number of art exhibitions.
After moving back to Egypt, Sarah started her professional career as a fine art photographer. Her work was shown in a number of solo and group exhibitions in Egypt and the US. Sarah was, and remains, enthusiastic about expanding the photography community in Egypt. She has been offering photography courses and was an active member of the Cairo camera club. She served as the Project Manager of the professional development unit at the contemporary image collective (CIC).
Sarah published one book “ALEPPO, A Splendor of Art and A Chronicle of Cultural Heritage”,ICARDA’s Book Publications May 2006.
Expanding into more commercial work, Sarah launched Luminism Studio. Through Luminism, Sarah has covered Portraits, Lifestyle, Fashion, and Architectural assignments.
Recently, Sarah has taken an interest in cinematography. She shot four short drama films and one short documentary.
She is a proud mum of two boys, and enjoys documenting her travels with her family.
